VILLANOVA, Pa. - Sophomore forward Shane Clark (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty H.S. and Hargrave Military Academy) underwent successful arthroscopic surgery yesterday on his left knee at Bryn Mawr Hospital. The procedure was designed to help alleviate pain that hampered the 6-7 forward for much of the 2006-07 season.
"This is a minor surgery that should allow Shane to be right back at 100 percent within a couple of weeks," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "I know he is excited about working hard on his game this off-season."
Clark appeared in all 33 games for Villanova in 2006-07 and averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing. He connected on .380 of his 3-point field goal attempts and established a career high of 17 points in a November game against Xavier at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. He averaged 24.0 minutes per game and made 10 starts for the 22-11 Wildcats.
