VILLANOVA, Pa. - A pair of meetings with DePaul, Pittsburgh and Syracuse highlight the list of 2007-08 opponents announced by the BIG EAST Conference today. The BIG EAST is returning to an 18-game schedule this season after utilizing a 16-game format in recent seasons. Each school will face the other 15 conference opponents at least once.
The Wildcats, who are one of only two BIG EAST teams to appear in each of the past three NCAA Tournaments, will play nine conference home games. Among those slated to visit the `Cats are: Connecticut; DePaul; Marquette; Notre Dame; Pittsburgh; Seton Hall; USF; Syracuse and West Virginia.
Villanova will travel to: Cincinnati; DePaul; Georgetown; Louisville; Pittsburgh; Providence; Rutgers; St. John's; and Syracuse.
Dates and times for these games will be announced with Villanova's entire schedule in September.
Villanova finished the 2007-08 campaign with a 22-11 record, 9-7 in the BIG EAST. It returns junior forwards Dante Cunningham and Shane Clark along with 2007 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Scottie Reynolds.
