VILLANOVA, Pa. - Freshman guard Corey Stokes was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week today.

Stokes, a 6-5 guard from Bayonne, N.J., posted career highs in both of Villanova's victories last week. On Feb. 20, he came off the bench to provide 16 points and five rebounds in a 78-56 win over West Virginia at the Pavilion. On Saturday, the product of St. Benedict's Prep scored 18 points, connecting on 4-of-7 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc, to help the Wildcats upend No. 13 Connecticut 67-65 at the Wachovia Center.

In his last three games Stokes is 16-of-28 (.571) from the field and 10-of-20 (.500) from outside the 3-point arc.

Tonight, Stokes and his Wildcat teammates face Marquette at the Wachovia Center (7:00 p.m./ESPN).
