No. 17 Villanova Defeats Providence, 94-91

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Scottie Reynolds scored 31 points and Dwayne Anderson had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 17 Villanova to its fourth straight victory, beating Providence 94-91 on Wednesday night.

Reggie Redding had 12 points, 11 rebounds and a key blocked shot for the Wildcats (18-4, 6-3 Big East).

Sharaud Curry led the Friars (14-8, 6-4) with 25 points, while Weyinmi Efejuku had 23 and Jeff Xavier 21.

Villanova took control midway through the first half and built a 20-point lead early in the second before Providence closed it to five points late in the game.

The Wildcats, who led by 15 points at halftime, opened the second half on a 10-5 run to push their lead to 59-39 on Redding's basket with 15:35 to play.

The Friars made it 92-91 on Efejuku's 3 with 2 seconds left, but Redding hit two free throws and Anderson tipped away a last inbounds pass.
