Adams Cup Round 2 Results
NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Brendan Kelly (Annapolis, Md.) is on a tear to start the fall golf season as he finds himself in the top-10 yet again after the first two rounds of the 17th Annual Adams Cup of Newport. Kelly shot a 72-76--148 (+4), which tied him for 8th individually, at the 7,244 yard, par-72 Newport National Golf Club in Newport, Rhode Island.
As a team, VU sits in eighth place in a seventeen team field at the renowned event with a total score of 610 (+34).
Rounding out the top five for Villanova were sophomore Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) (77-74--151; +7), senior Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.) (77-77--154; +10), junior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.) (80-79--159; +15), and junior Bret McGaughey (Laguna Beach, Calif.) (78-81--159; +15) which placed the individuals tied for 22nd, 34th, 63rd and 63rd, respectively.
Kelly, who is coming off a share of the title at The McLaughlin in Farmingdale, N.Y. last weekend, is just five shots off of the leader, Greg Eason from Central Florida with one round to play. In the team competition Central Florida holds a nine shot lead over second place, West Florida, with a total score of 581.
