Wildcats in Fourteenth After Day One of NIT Invitational

Day 1 Results

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Villanova golf team sits in 14th place in the 15-team field after the first two rounds of the NIT Invitational being played at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The Wildcats shot a 312-308--620 (+52) as a team throughout the two wind-swept rounds on Monday, where players for all teams were battling the conditions. The first round was played on the par-72, 7,094 yard Catalina Course while the second round was played on the par-70, 6,652 yard Sonoran Course.

Individually, senior Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.) leads the Wildcats in a tie for 51st place with a 77-76--153 (+11). Rounding out the top five for Villanova are junior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.)(80-76--156;+14), sophomore Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.)(79-78--157;+15), senior Colin List (Boynton Beach, Fla.)(80-78--158;+16), and senior Brendan Kelly (Annapolis, Md.)(76-85--161;+19) who finished tied for 67th, 72nd, 79th, and 87th place, respectively.

SMU, Tulsa, and Arizona lead the team field with a 584 (+16) and host Arizona's Jonathan Khan leads the individual competition with a 137 (-5).

Five teams still need to complete the second round, which was suspended due to darkness.

Villanova sits four strokes behind 13th place Northern Iowa and will look to surge up the standings in the final round tomorrow, which gets under way with an 8:00 a.m. west coast time shotgun start.
