BIG EAST Release
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Villanova's Kevin Cunningham and Brian Karalunas have been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for their performances in an 11-9 win over St. John's this past Saturday, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Cunningham led Villanova with four points via two goals and two assists versus the Red Storm. For the season, Cunningham leads the team with 41 points through 23 goals and 18 assists.
Karalunas led the defensive effort picking up five ground galls and posting two takeaways versus St. John's. For the season, Karalunas tallies 54 ground balls and 54 caused turnovers, leading the NCAA in the latter category for the entire 2011 season.
The 10th-ranked Villanova Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, April 26th when they host Rutgers at 7 p.m. in Villanova Stadium. VU will conclude their 2011 home schedule on Saturday, April 30th when they host Providence at 3 p.m.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tommy Palasek, Syracuse
Totaled seven points in wins over Hobart and Rutgers, including a career-high six points vs. the Scarlet Knights.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joel White, Syracuse
Anchored a defense that allowed just nine goals in wins over Hobart and Rutgers. Collected 18 ground balls for the week.
HONOR ROLL
