Villanova Tied for Eleventh After Two Rounds

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Wildcats kicked off their fall season at The McLaughlin on Friday with 36 holes at the par-70, 6,734-yard Red Course at Bethpage State Park and are currently in a tie for 11th with 18 holes to play today. The Wildcats are tied with Sacred Heart after shooting a 296-281--577 (+17).

Senior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.) coming off a strong junior season, currently leads the team with a 70-69--139 (-1), which puts him in 11th place individually. Colbert trails West Florida's Carlos Rodriguez by 10 shots with 18 holes to play.

Junior Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) also had a strong showing among the 92-man field with 76-68--144 (+4) which puts him in a tie for 30th.

Rounding out the rest of the top-five for Villanova are junior Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.)(74-72--146; +6), sophomore Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.)(76-72--148; +8), and junior Derek Jones (Lower Burrell, Pa.)(78-74--152; +12), placing them in a tie for 46th, 63rd, and 82nd, respectively.

Villanova is just 7 strokes out of fifth place as six teams are tightly packed. West Florida leads the team competition with a 548 (-12).
