BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. — The Villanova golf team closes their season at the Pete Dye Golf Club Monday as they compete in the Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
The 'Cats are coming off a win at the Wildcat Fazio Invite April 6-7.
The Event
Villanova is in a field of 19 teams — James Madison, Navy, TCU, UNCG, Baylor, Arkansas, Saint Francis, George Mason, William & Mary, Appalachian State, Clemson, Oklahoma State, Xavier, Ball State, Texas Tech, VCU, Western Kentucky and the hosts, West Virginia.
The 54-hole event will start with 36 holes Monday, followed by 18 Tuesday.
The Course
Opened in 1995, the Pete Dye Golf Club is a 7,553-yard long course with a par of 72. As the name implies, the course was designed by the late golf course architect, Pete Dye.
Villanova Lineup
After coming up just short at the Wildcat Invite,
Ryan Pamer hits first off the tee. Pamer finished tied for second in the Wildcat Invite, his highest finish of the season.
Matt Zerfass hits second following a 44th place finish at the Wildcat Invite. Two tournaments ago, Zerfass won the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate.
Vibhav Alokam returns to his usual position hitting third off the tee. Alokam shot the best round of the second round at the Wildcat Invite and finished in eighth place, a season high.
Brockton English is also coming off a season-best finish, after placing fifth place at the Wildcat Invite.
Nathan Marion rounds out the VU lineup for the second consecutive tournament after a 34th place finish at the Wildcat Invite.
