Adam's Cup Results

NEWPORT, R.I. - Junior Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) finished in a tie for 8th at the Adam's Cup of Newport in Newport, R.I. with a 73-70-72--215(-1) at the par-72, 7,244-yard Newport National Course. It is Skurla's first top-ten of the year, after a top-20 at the McLaughlin, in the 95-player field as he was second in the 54-hole event with 38 pars in the three rounds. As a team, the Wildcats finished in a tie for 5th in the 19-team competition with an 871 (+7).

Senior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.) finished inside the top-20 for the first time this season in a tie for 18th with a 72-74-72--218 (+2).

Juniors Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.)(74-74-72--220;+4) and Derek Jones (Lower Burrell, Pa.)(74-75-71--220;+4) both finished in a tie for 23rd.

Rounding out the top five for Villanova was Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.)(72-77-79--228;+12) who finished in a tie for 56th.

UCF's Ricardo Gouveia won the competition with a -12 and helped his team win the overall competition as well.
