FIGGC Round 2 Results
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Villanova sits in 11th place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic which is being played in South Bend, Indiana at the 7,023-yard, par-70 Warren Golf Course. The Wildcats shot a 305 (+25) for the first round in the morning, but they were much better in afternoon play with a 291 (+11) which gives them a two-round total of 596 (+36). Villanova is just seven shots out of seventh place in the 12-team field.
Senior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.)(74-73--147;+7) and junior Michael Kania (79-68--147;+7) currently sit in a tie for 23rd in the 70-player field. Kania's 68 was the second lowest score of the second round throughout the entire field.
Villanova's best golfer as of late, junior Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) shot a 75-74--149 (+9) is currently in a tie for 35th.
Rounding out the top five are junior Derek Jones (Lower Burrell, Pa.)(78-76--154;+14) and sophomore Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.)(78-76--154;+14) who are both in a tie for 58th.
Houston leads the team competition with a 575 (+15) and Texas-Arlington's Paul McConnell leads the individual field with a 139 (-1).
The Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic will wrap up tomorrow with the final round.
