USF Final Results
DADE CITY, Fla. - Villanova battled tough for 54 holes at the USF Invitational played at the par-72 Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club and came out in a tie for tenth out of 17 teams. Villanova shot a 299-294-298--891 (+27) over the three days in Dade City and finished tied with Florida State.
Junior Michael Kania led the way for Villanova over the three rounds and finished in a tie for 12th place out of 90 golfers. He was very steady throughout the three rounds with a 71-73-73--217 (+1). It was Kania's fourth finish inside the top-20 or better since the start of the fall 2011 season.
Senior Brian Colbert (75-75-76--226; +10) and Junior Steve Skurla (76-73-77--226; +10) each finished in a tie for 45th place.
Junior Derek Jones shot the best round out of any Villanova golfer on the day with an even par 72. He finished the 3-day tournament with a 229 (+13).
Rounding out the top five for the Wildcats was junior Jimmy Johnston who shot a 77-80-81--238 (+22).
UCF held on to win the team title with an 854 (-10). Louisville's Justin Dorward and Arkansas State's Chris Pledger tied for the individual title with a 211 (-5).
Villanova will move north to Pinehurst, North Carolina this weekend for the Gatorade Invitational.
