Philadelphia, Pa. - The Wildcats went head-to-head with the Blue Hens this past Friday in a meet that featured three different racing categories. VU registered a second-place finish in the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four competition, while recording third in the Novice Eight event.

University of Delaware entered two boats for the day of competition and posted first-place in each of the three events.

In the Varsity Eight contest, the Delaware "A" boat notched the top spot in a time of 5:29.96 to defeat Villanova (5:40.86) by an approximate 10 second margin. The "B" vessel for Delaware followed behind by four-seconds and acquired third-place at a time of 5:44.98.

The Varsity Four included one entry from each school. U of D would go on to triumph over VU (6:36.54) with a time of 6:14.68.

Villanova secured the final position for a third-place finish in the Novice Eight race in a time of 5:55.41. This time tailed the Delaware "B" (5:55.01) boat in what was calculated as a mere four tenths of a second. Claiming victory was the Delaware "A" vessel that booked a time of 5:47.64.

The Wildcats return to action next weekend for the Knecht Cup, which will be held Saturday, April 14th and Sunday, April 15th on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
