VILLANOVA, Pa. - Following a 5-2 victory over Loyola Maryland to begin the afternoon, the Villanova men's tennis team (4-15) wasn't able to conclude the sweep as NJIT defeated the Wildcats 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Villanova Tennis Complex.

Winners in four of its last six matches, Villanova improves to 4-15 on the season with only one regular season contest remaining.

Against Loyola Maryland in the morning, the Wildcats jumped out of the gate on fire with a clean sweep of the doubles point to take a 1-0 advantage.

The team would then take the top four single flights to pick up their fourth win. Thomas O'Brien (Branford, Conn.) got it going with an easy 6-0, 6-2 victory over Connor Pietrak at the No. 1 slot.

Shortly after, junior Michael Rosengren (Sharon, Mass.) breezed by his match at the No. 4 position.

Mark Miller clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Harrison Hunkel at the No. 2 spot.

The Wildcats couldn't continue their success in the latter match against NJIT. The 10-5 Highlanders swept the doubles point and took four of six singles matches to secure their victory.

On Wednesday, Villanova will travel to Washington D.C. to take on conference foe Georgetown at 1 p.m., which will conclude the regular season.
