Men's Tennis Welcomes St. John's And Lehigh This Week

'Cats Face St. John's Tuesday, Hawks On Wednesday

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova men's tennis team returns home for a two-match homestand this week, welcoming St. John's on Tuesday, April 7, and Lehigh on Wednesday, April 8. Both matches are set for 2:30 p.m.

The Wildcats are looking to bounce back after a 6-1 setback against BIG EAST opponent DePaul in their last outing. Villanova picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, where Quincy Jones and Jack Sherner secured a victory, but DePaul claimed the doubles point with wins on the top two courts.

In singles play, the Blue Demons controlled the match, winning five of six flights. Cameron Kruep provided the lone point for the Wildcats with a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 6.

St. John's enters Tuesday's matchup with a 14-5 overall record and an unblemished 4-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm are coming off a 6-1 win over Georgetown and have also picked up conference victories against Creighton, Xavier, and Butler. In last season's meeting, St. John's earned a 4-0 win over Villanova.

Lehigh comes into Wednesday's contest at 9-7 overall and riding a three-match winning streak. The Mountain Hawks have recorded wins over Navy, Colgate, and Loyola (Md.) during that stretch and will look to carry that momentum into Villanova.
