Harry Perretta today announced the 2014-15 Wildcat schedule. The Wildcats will play a 29-game schedule, including 18 Big East Conference contests and four Philadelphia Big Five match-ups.
The 2014-15 campaign tips-off on Friday, Nov. 14, when the Wildcats travel to the Chattanooga Tournament. Villanova will play host Chattanooga on Friday and then face South Florida on Saturday, Nov. 15. Following the Chattanooga Tournament, the team will fly to the west coast and play at Cal State Fullerton on Friday, Nov. 21.
Villanova will spend Thanksgiving in Naples, Fla., participating in the eight-team Gulf Coast Showcase. The Wildcats are scheduled to play Arizona State in the first round on Nov. 28. The second round opponent on Nov. 29 will either be Georgia Tech or Wisconsin Green Bay. Villanova's third round game on Nov. 30 will come against one of the four following teams: Connecticut, Vanderbilt, Minnesota or College of Charleston.
Following the Thanksgiving trip, Villanova will open up Big East Conference play at Providence on Dec. 3. After playing at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 7 for an eighth straight game away from home, the Wildcats will open the home portion of the schedule with a date against La Salle on Dec. 14. The La Salle contest will be the first of six consecutive home games. Villanova will play host to Sacred Heart (Dec. 20), Temple (Dec. 22) and North Carolina State (Dec. 30) before the calendar changes to 2015.
After the first of the year, 18 of the 19 games will be Big East Conference match-ups. The lone exception is a game at Penn on Jan. 21. For a second straight year, the Wildcats will play an 18-game double round-robin Big East Conference schedule.
Villanova is set two make four national television appearances this year as part of the Big East TV package. The televised games include home contests against Georgetown (Jan. 11), Seton Hall (Jan. 23) and Providence (Feb. 27) and a road game at Xavier on Jan. 18. All four games will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
This year's Big East Tournament is scheduled for March 7-10 in Chicago, Ill., at the Allstate Arena.
