Villanova Set to Face Pittsburgh, Lehigh Friday and Sunday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's soccer team (1-2-0) is set to host the Pittsburgh Panthers (3-2-0) on Friday and will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. on Sunday to square off against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (2-0-0) for a set of weekend matches. Game time versus Pitt is slated for 4 p.m. at Higgins Soccer Complex while the Wildcats and Lehigh will meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday on the Lehigh campus.

Villanova This Season: The Wildcats enter this weekend with a 1-2-0 record after a 1-and-1 weekend against Radford and No. 3 Virginia. Villanova posted a 1-0 win at Radford with a Katie Martin (Dallas, Texas) goal and fell to the Cavaliers 5-0 on Sunday. Villanova began the season with a 2-1 loss against Drexel in the inaugural home game at Higgins Soccer Complex.

Senior Victoria Gersh (Silver Spring, Md.) and Martin lead the Wildcats with two points each and have notched both of Villanova's goals this season. Caitlin Forte (Selbyville, Md.) leads the team with six shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Meyer (Massapequa, N.Y.) has played all 270 minutes in goal and has posted a .667 save percentage and a 2.33 goals against average through three games.

`Nova vs. Pittsburgh: Friday will mark the 17th overall meeting between the Panthers and Wildcats with Villanova holding the advantage in the all-time series at 10-3-3. The Wildcats last met Pittsburgh on September 23rd, 2012 as former conference foes in the BIG EAST and powered to a 2-1 victory. The two sides have not met since Pittsburgh moved into the Atlantic Coast Conference.

A Look at Pittsburgh: The Panthers bring a 3-2 overall record into Friday's matchup and have captured wins over Akron (W, 3-0), Robert Morris (W, 3-1) and Toledo (W, 1-0). Losses on the year have come via Duquesne (L, 1-0 2OT) and Washington (L, 1-0).

Roosa Arvas leads the team with seven points via three goals and one assist and is followed closely behind by Taylor Pryce's two goals and one assist for five points. Taylor Francis has played over 450 minutes in net and posts a .857 save percentage and a 0.59 goals against average.

`Nova vs. Lehigh: Sunday marks the 10th overall meeting between Villanova and Lehigh with the Wildcats taking the upper hand in the all-time series at 7-1-1. The opponents last met just a year ago on September 1st, 2013 with Villanova coming away with a 2-0 win.

A Look at Lehigh: Lehigh brings a 2-0 overall record into Sunday's contest and has posted wins over Binghamton (W, 2-0) and Mount St. Mary's (W, 1-0).

Grace Correll and Darby Wiegand lead the team with four points each and have combined for three goals and two assists on the season. Paige Elliott and Madi Morgan have also contributed two assists for one point each. Ani Nahapetian and Ashley Blanks have each played 90 minutes in goal and have combined for seven saves and a 2-0 overall record.
