Results: Sunday (R1)

ELVERSON, Pa. - The Villanova golf team completed its first round at the fourth-annual Finegan Invitational on Sunday and currently sits in sixth place after shooting 302 in the first day of the two-day event.

Freshman Andy Butler and junior Luke Waggoner finished with the top-two scores for the Wildcats when they shot 75 (+5) on the par-70 Stonewall North course. Both men sit tied for 18th individually in the 63-man field.

Freshmen Will Byrne and Zach Egermayer followed suit, each shooting 76 (+6) in round one to complete Villanova's Sunday team score of 302. Byrne and Egermayer are tied for 27th individually.

Sophomore Lucas Trim shot 77 (+7) in round one and is tied for 34th.

Wagner (290) leads the 12-team event followed by Lafayette (292), Monmouth (293), Hofstra (296) and La Salle (297) in fifth.

After Villanova (302) in sixth, Manhattan and Rider are tied for seventh at 303 followed by a tie for ninth between Iona and Niagara at 304.

Alvernia (325) and St. Francis Brooklyn (350) close out the field.

Stonewall North, located in Elverson, Pa. just southeast of Reading, was named one of the top 10 best new courses in the country by "The Golfer" Magazine when it opened in 2003. Along with the Old Course at Stonewall, the site will host the 2016 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship. The North Course will play 6,735 yards on a par 70 layout.

Following play at the Finegan Invitational, Villanova will travel to Okatie, South Carolina for the BIG EAST Championships from Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, April 28.
