South Kent, Conn.- The Villanova golf team finished the Hartford Hawks Invitational in 17th place after the conclusion of the 54-hole tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildcats shot 310-293-603 for the first two rounds, and put up a team score of 330 in the final round for a two-day total of 933 (+69).
Junior Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) ended the Hartford Invitational +5 with a final round of 77 on Tuesday. Through three rounds, Trim scored 77-67-77-221 to rank first on Villanova and T-21st overall in the 107-man field.
Senior Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) shot an 83 in the final round for three round total of 73-75-83-231 (+15). Waggoner finished T-61st overall.
Sophomore Andy Butler (Oakmont, Pa./Manheim Township) shot an 82 in the final round. Butler finished with a score of 82-72-82-236 (+20). Overall, he finished T-77th.
Sophomore Zach Egermayer (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) went 78-80-88-246 (+30), and sophomore Will Byrne (McLean, Va./ Langley) carded a 83-79-95-257 (+41).
Connecticut won the tournament with a three-round score of 279-286-288-853 (-11). Bryant's Kyle Buschmann finished atop of the field with a 206 (-10) 54-hole total.
Central Florida finished second overall carding an 866 (+2) three-round total. Towson and Bryant each moved up one spot to finish third and fourth overall respectively.
Seton Hall dropped two spots on Tuesday to finish fifth overall, while Rutgers stayed in sixth place. Hartford, Rhode Island, Boston College, Bethune-Cookman, LIU-Brooklyn, Fairfield, Fordham, Hofstra, Sacred Heart, Stetson, Villanova, UMass-Lowell, Holy Cross, and Temple rounded out the 20-team field.
Golf will resume play on Sunday, September 27 and Monday, September 28 at the Patriot Intercollegiate in Lorton, Va.
