Lorton, Va. - The Villanova golf team finished the Patriot Intercollegiate in 13th place after the conclusion of the 54-hole tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Wildcats shot 306-302-608 for the first two rounds, and put up a team score of 296 in the final round for a two-day total of 904 (+52). Villanova moved up two spots in Monday's final round from 15th to 13th.
Junior Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) ended the Patriot Intercollegiate +7 with a final round of 71 on Monday. Through three rounds, Trim scored 77-72-71-220 to rank first on Villanova and T-22nd overall in the 100-man field.
Sophomore Andy Butler (Oakmont, Pa./Manheim Township) shot a 72 in the final round. Butler finished with a score of 76-75-72-223 (+10). Overall, he finished T-33rd overall.
Sophomore Zach Egermayer (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) went 74-78-74-226 (+13). Egermayer finished T-43rd overall.
Sophomore Andrew MacMillan (Scottsdale, Ariz./ Brophy Prepatory School) carded a 79-79-80-238 (+25). MacMillan finished tied for 88th overall.
Freshman Andrew Bowyer (Summit, N.J./ Summit), who competed as an individual, shot a three round total of 238 (+25) via rounds of 79-80-80-238. He was tied with MacMillan for 88th overall.
Senior Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) shot a 79 in the final round for three round total of 83-77-79-239 (+26). Waggoner finished 90th overall.
The West Florida Argonauts won the tournament with a three-round score of 279-289-279-847 (-5). Heading into the tournament, West Florida was the No. 13 ranked team in Division II. Towson's Jimmy Grem finished atop of the field with a 204 (-9) 54-hole total.
James Madison finished second overall carding an 860 (+8) three-round total. Towson, Bethune-Cookman, and host George Mason round out the top five.
Marshall finished sixth overall, while Longwood moved up two spots to seventh place. Eastern Kentucky, Binghamton, Delaware, High Point, St. Joseph's, Villanova, La Salle, Navy, Fairleigh Dickinson, and McDaniel College rounded out the 17-team field.
Golf will return to action two weekends from now at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate hosted by East Tennessee State University. The three-day tournament will take place Friday, October 9 thru Sunday, October 11th at the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tenn.
