Sept. 6, 2015 VERONA, N.Y. - The Villanova men's golf team currently sits in 10th place at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, a tournament hosted by the University of Missouri at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y.
Villanova turned in a first round score of 305, and a second round score of 294 on Sunday. The Wildcats' two-round score is 599 (+23) heading into Monday's final 18 holes.
Junior Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) led the Wildcats with rounds of 73 and 72 for a 36-hole score of 145 (+1).
Sophomore Zach Egermayer (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished with a two-round total of 149 (+5) via rounds of 81 and 68. Egermayer turned in the lowest round thus far for Villanova with a round of 68 in the second set of 18 holes on Sunday.
Senior Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) went 76-76-152 (+8), and sophomore Andy Butler (Oakmont, Pa./Manheim Township) went +11 in the first two rounds, carding a 77-78--155.
Trim (T-13), Egermayer (T-32), and Waggoner (T-40) all rank in the top-50 of the 87 man field.
Freshman Andrew Bowyer (Summit, N.J./ Summit), who is competing as an individual, turned in rounds of 79 and 78 for a two-round total of 157 (+13).
Freshman Peter Richards (Westport, Conn./Staples) carded a 79-84-163 (+19).
Villanova trails Seton Hall (594, +18) and West Virginia (594, +18) by five strokes. The Wildcats are in front of Alabama State (601, +25) and Grand Canyon (602, +26) by two and three strokes respectively.
Missouri leads the field with a combined two-round score of 571 (-5). Boston College trails Missouri by seven strokes. Missouri's Wilson Sundvold is in first place after 36 holes with two-round cards of 137 (-7).
The 15-team field rounds out with Cleveland State in third, Xavier in fourth and Northern Kentucky, Hartford, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Binghamton, Villanova, Alabama State, Grand Canyon, Loyola-Chicago, Sacred Heart and Saint Peter's rounding out the fifth to 15th place finishes.
