VERONA, N.Y.- The Villanova golf team finished the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in 12th place after the conclusion of the 54-hole tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Wildcats shot 305-294-599 for the first two rounds, and put up a team score of 309 in the final round for a two-day total of 910 (+21).
Junior Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) ended the Tiger Intercollegiate +7 with a final round of 78 on Monday. Through three rounds, Trim scored 73-72-78-223 to rank first on Villanova and T-23rd overall in the 87-man field.
Senior Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) shot an even par 72 in the final round for three round total of 76-76-72-224 (+8). Waggoner finished T-27th overall.
Sophomore Zach Egermayer (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) shot an 81 in the final round. Egermayer finished with a score of 81-68-81-230 (+14). Overall, he finished T-46th.
Sophomore Andy Butler (Oakmont, Pa./Manheim Township) went 77-78-78-235 (+19), good for 68th overall.
Freshman Andrew Bowyer (Summit, N.J./ Summit) competed as an individual for the Wildcats, ending with a three-round scorecard of 79-78-84-239. His +23 total placed him T-73rd overall.
Freshman Peter Richards (Westport, Conn./Staples) went 79-84-93-256 (+40) in his college debut placing 85th overall.
Missouri won the tournament for the fifth time with a three-round score of 286-285-291-862 (-2). Cleveland State's Joey Krecic finished atop of the field with a 212 (-4) 54-hole total.
Cleveland State and Xavier each moved up one spot to finish second and third overall respectively. Hartford moved up two spots on Monday to finish fourth overall. The Boston College Eagles dropped two spots placing fifth overall.
Fellow BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall shot a 301 in the third round to finish sixth. Alabama State jumped four spots, from eleventh to seventh, after a team round of 295. Grand Canyon, Northern Kentucky, West Virginia, Binghamton, Villanova, Loyola-Chicago, Sacred Heart and St. Peter's rounded out the 15-team field.
Golf will resume play on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22 at the Hartford Hawks Invitational in South Kent, Conn.
