Jonesborough, Tenn. - The Villanova men's golf team completed the first day of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats carded a first round total of 302 (+14) at the par 72 Blackthorn Club.
Villanova is facing some tough competition at the tournament. According to Golfweek and Golfstat, eight teams in the field are ranked in the top 65.
Missouri is in the lead, after shooting a 277 (-11) on the day. The Tigers have a one stroke advantage over UNC-Wilmington heading into the second round tomorrow.
Villanova's Lucas Trim was the top golfer for the Wildcats after 18 holes. Trim carded a 73 (+1) and is tied for 34th place. Connor Daly sits one stroke behind Trim, as he shot a 74 (+2) to finish the first day tied for 47th place.
Zach Egermayer is tied for 61st place after shooting a 75 (+3). Andy Butler and Andrew MacMillan each carded a round of 80 (+8).
