Oct. 16, 2016 Final Results
Jonesborough, Tenn. -- The Villanova men's golf team completed the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday. Throughout the weekend, the Wildcats had rounds of 302-293- 305 = 900 (+36).
Freshman Connor Daly was the top golfer for Villanova. He improved his score by two strokes after each round to finish the tournament T-28th place with scores of 74-72-70 = 216 (E).
Virginia claimed the top spot on the leader board at the tournament. The Cavaliers' team score of 829 (-35) was a tournament record, and they finished ahead of second place Missouri by 13 strokes.
Villanova faced some tough competition this weekend, as eight of the teams in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate field were ranked in the top 65 by Golfweek or Golfstat.
Lucas Trim finished the tournament T-38th place. The senior captain carded rounds of 73-71-75 = 219 (+3). Zach Egermayer shot rounds of 75-74-83 = 232 (+16). Andy Butler finished one stroke behind Egermayer, shooting rounds of 80-76-77 = 233 (+17), and Andrew MacMillan had scores of 80-85-88 = 253 (+37).
The Wildcats will be back in action next weekend at The Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate from Oct. 21-23. The event is considered to be one of the most prestigious tournaments in the nation.
