Brunswick, Ga. - The Villanova golf team returned to action Monday after a long winter hiatus as they dropped a dual match to NAIA opponent Coastal Georgia.

Villanova shot a 308 (+20) while the Coastal Georgia shot a 293 (+5).

The match took place at the Brunswick Country Club in Brunswick, Ga. which plays par 72 at 6,929 yards. This was Villanova's first action since Oct. 31, 2015 when the Wildcats finished fourth at the City 6 Championship at Merion.

Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla. /Jesuit) carded a team-low 74 (+2) on Monday. Andrew MacMillan (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Brophy College Preparatory) shot a 75 (+3).

Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) finished with an 18 round score of 76 (+4). Andrew Bowyer also competed at Brunswick finishing with an 83 (+11)

Andy Butler (Oakmont, Pa./Manheim Township) went 84 (+12) but his score was dropped.

Villanova had three players compete as individuals. Zach Egermayer (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic) carded an 18-hole total of 78 (+6). Peter Richards (Westport, Conn./ Staples) shot an 80 (+8) while Will Byrne scored an 88 (+16).

Coastal Georgia was led by Harrison Stafford who shot an even par 72 for the day.

Villanova will have a practice round tomorrow at the Hampton Club which is on Sea Island, Ga. On Wed. March 2, the 'Cats will hold another practice round at Wilmington Island Club which is in Savannah, Ga.

On March 3, Villanova's practice round will be held at Indigo Run at the Nicklaus Course on Hilton Head Island, S.C. where they will be hosted by some Villanova alumni.

Finally, on Fri. March 4, Villanova will have an 18-hole practice round at the Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, S.C. on the championship course for the BIG EAST coming up this May.
