Malvern, Pa. - The Villanova golf team finished the Wildcat Invitational tied for fourth place with Binghamton and LaSalle after the conclusion of the 36-hole tournament Tuesday.
The Wildcats shot 299-302 for a two-day total of 601 (+18), while Andrew MacMillan 70-75-145 (+3) finished two strokes behind Binghamton's Kyle Wambold 69-74-143 (+1) for second overall.
MacMillan did compete as an individual and Villanova's fourth place finish is their highest in a tournament this year.
Lucas Trim carded a 36-hole total 74-76-150 (+8), while Andy Butler went 75-75-150 (+8). Both Trim and Butler finished t-19th overall.
Senior Luke Waggoner finished t-25th overall after shooting a solid 73 (+2) Tuesday. Waggoner finished the tournament at 78-73-151 (+9).
Will Byrne started off strong with an opening round 72 Monday. On Tuesday, Byrne shot an 81 to finish at 153 (+11). The McLean, Va. Native finished tied for 52nd overall.
Zach Egermayer carded a 36-hole total of 78-78-156 (+14) finishing tied for 72nd overall, while Peter Richards placed tied for 58th overall with a two-round total of 154 (+12) as an individual.
Cleveland State won the invitational after shooting a 36-hole 302-291-593 (+25). Lehigh finished in second place while Wagner placed third.
Villanova, Binghamton, LaSalle, Delaware, St. John's, Detroit, Fordham, Colgate, Bucknell, Monmouth, Siena, Iona, LeMoyne, Lafayette, Manhattan, St. Bonaventure, St. Peter's, and Rider round out the fourth to 21st place spots.
Following the Wildcat Invitational, Villanova will play in the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette April 3-4 at Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa.
