CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Villanova competed in seven different events during the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Of note among the team's results at Cobb Stadium were strong performances in two relays by the Wildcats, who finished as the runners-up in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:13.31. Sophomore middle distance runner Elliot Slade (Cardiff, United Kingdom) provided the team's top individual result by winning the 1500 meters.

The lineup for the 4x400 meter relay began with sophomore Ishmael Muhammad (Mays Landing, N.J.), who was followed in turn by freshman Ville Lampinen (Vantaa, Finland), senior Donald Urschel (East Brunswick, N.J.) and freshman Sterling Pierce (Voorhees, N.J.). Urschel and Pierce were also a part of the Villanova lineup for the 4x100 meter relay, with Pierce taking the second leg and Urschel the third leg of that relay. Freshman Pearson Feagans (Dallas, Texas) led off the 4x100 relay and junior Kyle Cartwright (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) anchored as Villanova finished seventh with a time of 41.96.

Prior to the relays, Pierce and Urschel ran in the 200 meters, where they recorded times of 21.48 and 22.08, respectively. Cartwright ran in the 400 meter hurdles and posted a time of 54.78 while finishing ninth out of 27 competitors.

Slade paced a field of 27 runners with a winning time of 3:48.91 in the 1500 meters. Lampinen headlined three Wildcats entries in the 800 meters, and finished second overall out of 30 runners with a time of 1:48.89. Sophomore Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) and junior Josh Lampron (Mansfield, Mass.) came in fifth (1:50.21) and seventh (1:50.75), respectively, in the 800 meters.

Sophomore James Deutmeyer (Rye, N.Y.) was the lone field athlete to compete for Villanova on Saturday. He finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.75 meters.
