Villanova Rowing competed Saturday morning in the Kelly Cup on the Schuykill River in cool and rainy conditions.
The Varsity 8 boat consisting of Maggie Cavanaugh, Caroline McCaughey, Briggs Mroz, Eryn McCassey,
Emily Lenane, Morgan Mroz, Jackie Denning, and Julia Taladay coming in fourth with a time of 6:39.0. Drexel lead the heat (6:24.3), followed by Temple (6:29.0), St. Joseph's (6:35.7), after the Wildcats was Philadelphia University (7:01.1) and LaSalle (7:15.9).
2nd Varsity 8 boat for the Wildcats finished with a time of 7:07.3, Temple finished at 6:39.9 while St. Joseph's came in at 6:44.1, and Drexel at 6:44.6. The Villanova boat consisted of Ellie Cayer, Clare O'Brien, Lizzie Haggerty, Izzy Cedeno, Lucia DeNicola, Caroline Bamberger, Mel Preve, Kiera McCloy, and Abby Schenone.
Villanova's Varsity 4 boat Gabriella DeLorenzo, Lindsay Dyrvik, Katherine Bitler, Sarah-Lauren Chen, and Savannah Restori came in fourth at 7:42.6. Drexel lead all boat (7:23.1), followed by Temple (7:26.5), St. Joseph's (7:41.7), Villanova, and Philadelphia University (7:50.8).
The Wildcats Novice 8 boat consisted of Eva Cavanaugh, Kayla Rubin, Cece Franko, Deirdre Penhke, Ellie Dineer-Carey, Simonne Brissenden, Kelly Barrett, Hannah Webb, and Allie Santa Maria. Temple finished the heat first (6:52.7), then St. Joseph's (6:57.1), Drexel (7:0.3), and Villanova (7:12.7).
Head Coach Carissa Adams shared about her team, "It was another opportunity where our program was able to inch their way closer to the Philly schools. The varsity eight has seen some major improvements in their performance over the past few weeks. Each week they are getting closer and closer to the top competition."
