Okatie, S.C. - The Villanova golf team concluded play at the 2016 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday afternoon as the Wildcats shot 310 as a team during the final round, giving VU a 926 (+62) three-day total. Villanova finished in eighth place.
Lucas Trim led Villanova all tournament long as he closed out with a round of 78 (+6). Trim had 11 pars and one birdie on 16. Trim was +3 on the front nine and +3 on the back nine. Overall, Trim went 73-73-78-224 (+8) and finished 13th overall.
Luke Waggoner closed out his Villanova career with a round of 74 (+2) Tuesday. Waggoner shot 35 (-1) on the front nine, and a 39 (+3) on the back nine. The Crystal Lake, Ill. native went 76-75-74-225 (+9) for the tournament and placed T-14th overall.
Sophomores Andrew MacMillan and Will Byrne shot rounds of 80 (+8) and 78 (+6) Tuesday to round out Villanova's top four. MacMillan went 82-76-80-238 (+22) for the tournament and placed T-36 overall. Byrne went 88-81-78-247 (+31) over three-rounds and finished 42nd overall.
Sophomore Zach Egermayer carded a round of 85 (+13) on day three for a 54-hole total of 80-83-85-248 (+32). Egermayer placed 43rd overall.
Georgetown won the BIG EAST Championship to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship. The Hoyas shot 864 (E) while Xavier came in second (891, +27) followed by DePaul in third (896, +32).
Marquette finished fourth with a total of 898 (+34). St. John's came in fifth at 899 (+35).
Butler (901, +37) and Seton Hall (901, +37) tied for sixth overall while Villanova (926, +62) and Creighton (946, +82) rounded out the field.
Individually, Seton Hall's Lloyd Jefferson Go won the tournament with a three-round total of 210 (-6).
