Final Results
Farmington, N.Y. - The Villanova men's golf team shot a 281 (+1) in the final round of The Doc Gimmler tournament to take fifth place out of 13 teams. The Wildcats finished the tournament with scores of 290-280-281 = 851 (+11).
Rhode Island won the tournament with a team score of 825 (-15). Seton Hall finished in second place, followed by Yale and Connecticut. Villanova took fifth place, finishing one stroke ahead of Harvard. St. John's tied for seventh place with Hofstra, and Colgate, Johnson & Wales (Fla.), Hartford, Iona and St. Peter's rounded out the leaderboard.
Senior captain Lucas Trim led Villanova, tying for 19th place. He had rounds of 73-67-72 = 212 (+2). Junior Andy Butler shot a 69 (-1) on Sunday and moved up ten spots on the leaderboard to tie for 24th place. Butler carded rounds of 72-72-69 = 213 (+3) over the weekend.
Connor Daly climbed up 12 spots from Saturday to tie for 28th place. He also shot a 69 (-1) in the final round and finished with scores of 74-71-69 = 214 (+4). Zach Egermayer finished with rounds of 71-70-78 = 219 (+9) to tie for 43rd place.
Andrew MacMillan had a final round of 71 (+1) and finished tied for 60th place. Will Byrne tied for 73rd as an individual in his first tournament of the 2016-17 season.
