Lorton, Va. -- The Villanova men's golf team wrapped up play at the Patriot Intercollegiate with a 12th place finish out of 19 teams. Old Dominion won the tournament with a team score of 849 (-3). The Monarchs edged Eastern Kentucky by two strokes to take the championship.
As a team, Villanova was consistent throughout the weekend, carding rounds of 299-295-298 = 892 (+40). Freshman Connor Daly and junior Zach Egermayer led the Wildcats, as both tied for 29th place. Daly shot rounds of 78-69-74 = 221 (+8), while Egermayer finished with scores of 73-72-76 = 221 (+8).
Lucas Trim shot a 73 in the final round to tie for 64th place. He ended the weekend with a three round total of 227 (+14). Andy Butler finished one stroke behind Trim, carding rounds of 73-76-79 = 228 (+15). Andrew MacMillan had a strong finish at the tournament, as he shot a 75 in the final round.
Peter Richards played in the Patriot Intercollegiate as an individual. In his first tournament of the 2016-17 season, Richards finished with rounds of 81-79-82 = 242 (+29)
Villanova will take a few weeks off before traveling to the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tenn. The tournament will be played from Oct. 14-16.
