Sept. 5, 2016 Final Results
Verona, N.Y. - The Villanova men's golf team wrapped up play at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, shooting a final round of 297 (+9) for an eighth place finish. Over the weekend, the Wildcats carded rounds of 307-295-297 = 899 (+35).
Missouri won the tournament for the fifth straight year, despite coming into the final round seven stokes behind Texas A&M. Missouri shot a 279 (-9) in the final round to move past the Aggies.
Toledo finished in third place, followed by Chattanooga, Cleveland State, Fort Wayne and IUPUI. Villanova placed eighth with Boston College, Sacred Heart, Northern Kentucky, Binghamton, Alabama State and St. Peter's University rounding out the leaderboard.
Villanova was led by senior captain Lucas Trim. He shot a 70 (-2) in the final round to finish the weekend tied for 17th place with rounds of 76-76-70 = 222 (+6). Freshman Connor Daly was not far behind, as he carded rounds of 77-70-76 = 223 (+7) to finish tied for 20th place.
Junior Andy Butler tied for 36th place with rounds of 77-71-80 = 228 (+12). Zach Egermayer finished a few strokes behind Butler. He tied for 44th place, carding rounds of 77-78-76 =231 (+15). Andrew MacMillan moved up three spots from yesterday to finish in 71st place with rounds of 87-87-75 = 249 (+31).
The Wildcats will be back in action Sept. 10-11 at The Doc Gimmler, hosted by fellow BIG EAST member St. John's.
