Providence, R.I. - The Villanova men's swimming and diving team picked up its second straight win in a BIG EAST dual meet against Providence on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats won the meet by a score of 130-68 and took the top spot in nine of the 11 events.
The team of Andrew Kelley, Tyler Nussbaum, Jake Hoin and Christopher Paynter started the meet by taking first place in the men's 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:45.13. In the next event, the 800-yard freestyle, Harrison Rodts, John Davidson and Noah Chernik took the top three spots. Rodts finished first in a time of 8:48.76.
Villanova also claimed the top three places in the men's 200-yard freestyle. Stephen Krecsmar, John Paul Naughton and Greg Cino finished the event in times of 1:57.47, 2:00.22 and 2:02.57, respectively.
Later in the meet, Jake Hoin and Tyler Nussbaum raced to first and second place finished in the 50-yard freestyle, as they touched the wall in times of 23.64 and 25.07. Justin Cucchi, Jackson Kabas and Alexander Klippel finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard IM. Cucchi finished in a time of 2:11.50 to edge Kabas.
Jade Rice and Keith Christianson continued the Wildcats' winning ways, as they finished first and second in the 200-yard butterfly. Paynter and Cucchi followed suit, taking the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Wildcats closed the meet with Kelley winning the men's 200-yard backstroke, and Davidson earning first place honors in the 400-yard freestyle.
