The Villanova men's tennis team (2-2) picked up their second win of the season against Navy (10-8) Sunday night at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club defeating the Mids 5-2.

"I was really pleased with all team members and their performances. Coming off a disappointing loss the night before, the team showed a lot of resilience in their performance against a high quality opponent," stated head coach Brad Adams.

The Wildcats began with the doubles matches that was very competitive throughout. Andrew Hicks and Walker Sims defeated Thomas Dodson and Tommy Mulflur first losing 6-2. The duo of Will Elmore and Luis Miranda would even out the matches defeated Navy 6-4, but Tyler Roth and Stefan Suarez fell 7-5 to Navy to lose the doubles point. "After losing the doubles point, the guys dug in and fought for every point."

In the No. 6 singles spot, Alastair Hurry evened out the playing field again tying the match by defeating Andrew Hicks 6-4 and 6-2. Following his finish, was Luis Miranda who fell to Greg Durham 6-2 and 6-0. After Miranda's loss, Villanova did not allowed another Navy point after that. Freshman Dylan Flanagan would finish next after a hard fought over Navy's Walker Sims. Fellow freshman, Tyler Roth also went into hard matches pushing match points each set. Thomas Dodson clinched the match for the Wildcats in a long battle against Andrey Majkic. They went 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-3, which was the longest battle throughout the entire match. "I was really proud of Tommy Dodson's ability to clinch the match in a tough three set match, his first victory coming off an injury that limited his playing time this fall." Freshman Stefan Suarez would give Villanova another point with his 6-3, 6-4 win over Navy as well.

"This weekend was a great learning experience for a young team that has many challenges to look forward to next week out in Southern California." The Wildcats will compete in the Pacific Coast Doubles and will play a mix of California colleges throughout the week.
