The Villanova men's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) fell to the Temple Owls in Friday's early morning play. Two freshmen Wildcats had a strong first outing in their singles play.
The 'Cats began with doubles play as they were swept in all doubles matches. Luis Miranda and Will Elmore combined in the first set, followed by Tyler Roth and Stefan Suarez. Lastly, Thomas Dodson and Tommy Mulflur were the last Wildcats to combine.
In singles matches, senior captain Luis Miranda fell to Temple's Artem Kapshuk. In the second slot, Stefan Suarez also dropped his match. Freshman, Tyler Roth defeated Temple's Uladzimir Dorash, 7-6 (5) and 6-3. Following Roth's performance, was fellow freshman, Dylan Flanagan who also won his matches 7-6 (6) ad 6-0. Alastair Hurry and Matt Phelps were defeated.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, February 11 as they will meet Wagner College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. The matches are set for 5:00 p.m.
