The Villanova men's tennis team (6-6) fell to the Boston Terriers (7-11) at the Newington Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 loss.
With doubles play starting first, the Wildcats started off with a strong performance to clinch the doubles point. Tyler Roth and Thomas Dodson finished their match first with a 6-2 win. Luis Miranda and Will Elmore lost 6-4 following their performance so it was up to Stefan Suarez and Mike Czlonka. Suarez and Czlonka won 6-4 to give Villanova a strong start.
After his big doubles win, Stefan Suarez kept going with a 6-4, 6-2 win to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Suarez would be the only Wildcat to win a singles match. The next three Wildcats would push three tiebreaker matches. First with Luis Miranda losing 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, followed by Tommy Mulflur 6-3, 7-6 (7-0), and finished with Dylan Flanagan 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) who all took losses. Alastair Hurry and Tyler Roth also pushed three-set matches, but could not set a win.
The Wildcats will return to action next Sunday, April 2 at Loyola, Maryland for a noon start.
