March 7, 2017 IRVINE, Calif. - The Villanova men's tennis team (3-4) fell to the University of California, Irvine (2-7) on Modnday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium with a final score of 6-1.
UC Irvine swept the doubles matches and started off early with the advantage point. They continued to excel in their singles play to win the entire match. Freshman Tyler Roth was the only Wildcat to win a match and put Villanova up on the board. He defeated Derek Chen 6-2 and 6-3 in the No. 3 singles slot. Stefan Suarez at the No. 2 slot and Alastair Hurry at the No. 6 slot both pushed three match sets, but unfortunately could not pull out the win.
The Wildcats finally get a day off after back to back days of matches in California. They will return to action on Wednesday March 8th against Concordia in Santa Ana, Calif. The match is slated for 6:00 p.m.
