Lafayette Hill, Pa. -The Villanova men's golf team finished in third place out of 14 teams at the Finegan Invitational, which was hosted by La Salle. The tournament took place at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, a par-72 course that measures 6,886 yards.
Longwood won the tournament with a team score of 586 (+10), and Drexel placed second after carding a score of 587 (+11). Villanova finished in third place at 601 (+25), and the Wildcats were followed by Delaware, Lehigh, Rhode Island, Lafayette, La Salle, Bucknell, Monmouth, Navy, Rosemont, Central Connecticut and Alvernia.
Andy Butler led Villanova with a second-place finish at the event, carding scores of 73-71 = 144 (E). Butler had been tied for second, and he won a tiebreaker to take home the silver trophy outright. Lucas Trim was one stroke behind Butler, finishing with rounds of 74-71 = 145 (+1) to take fifth place. Connor Daly tied for 24th place, carding scores of 76-77 = 153 (+9). Andrew MacMillan had scores of 83-76 = 159 (+15), and Will Byrne closed the tournament with rounds of 86-81 = 167 (+23).
