Hellertown, Pa. - The Villanova men's golf team placed fourth out of 19 teams at the Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, which took place at the par-72 Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown, Pa. The Wildcats shot rounds of 307-298 = 605 (+29) over the two-day tournament, and they climbed up four spots on the leaderboard during the final day of action. UConn won the tournament with scores of 295-287 = 582 (+6). The Huskies were followed by Drexel and Bryant, who tied for second place at 596 (+20).
Villanova senior Lucas Trim had an outstanding tournament, and he finished in second place. After 36 holes of action, Eric Dietrich of UConn, Anton Frondelius of Wagner, and Trim were tied for first place with a score of 143 (-1). The three participants went to a playoff, which started on the first hole. Trim and Frondelius each shot an even-par on the hole to advance to the second hole, and that's where Frondelius edged Trim to win medalist honors. Frondelius carded an even-par, while Trim finished one stroke back.
Trim concluded the tournament with rounds of 72-71 = 143 (-1). Andy Butler also had a good showing, and he tied for 16th place after carding scores of 78-72 = 150 (+6). Connor Daly tied for 42nd place with rounds of 76-79 = 155 (+11). Will Byrne tied for 55th place, shooting rounds of 81-76 = 157 (+13), and Andrew Bowyer rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 81-84 = 165 (+21).
Andrew MacMillan had an impressive performance as an individual at the tournament, and he tied for 11th place, carding rounds of 74-75 = 149 (+5).
