April 8, 2017 STORRS, Conn. -
The Villanova men's tennis team (9-7) bounced back after a tough loss to defeat UConn (8-10) 4-1 at the University of Connecticut Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas Dodson and Tyler Roth picked up the first doubles win at the No. 2 spot with a 6-3 win. Freshmen Stefan Suarez and Mike Czlonka clinched the doubles point for the Wildcats with a 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot.
Suarez continued to win his respective matches at the No. 2 spot winning 6-4 and 6-4 to give Villanova a 2-0 lead. Tyler Roth did the same thing as he won 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles spot. Dylan Flanagan wrapped up singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 4 spot.
Luis Miranda and Alastair Hurry were in three-set matches before the Wildcats clinched the win, therefore play was stopped.
"After a disappointing and flat performance yesterday, the men had a great rebound today in a very tough environment. I was extremely pleased and proud of how the men dealt with adversity and kept focused. They were able to ignore a very tough environment and things that could have taken them off their game to make sure they took care of business and secure a win," stated Head Coach Brad Adams following the Wildcats' victory.
The Villanova men's tennis team will finish up their road trip against Hofstra tomorrow April 9. The match will begin at noon.
