Sept. 26, 2017 Final Results
CENTREVILLE, Virginia- The Villanova men's golf team finished up play at the Patriot Intercollegiate tournament, shooting a final round of 298 (+10). Over the past two day the Wildcats carded rounds of 311-299-298= 908 (+44) for a tenth place finish.
Appalachian State won the tournament as they carded rounds of 292-291--290= 873 (+9).
Florida Gulf Coast finished in second place followed by, Delaware, Georgetown, Elon, Bethune-Cookman, host George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Longwood, Saint Joseph's, and Villanova. Columbia, Lafayette, Wagner, St. John's, and McDaniel College round out the leaderboard.
Senior Andy Butler led the way for the Wildcats. He shot a 72 (E) in his final round of play. He scored rounds of 77-69-72= 218 (+2) to place tied for tenth overall. Sophomore Captain, Connor Daly was not too far behind, as he carded rounds of 74-73-74 = 221 (+5) to finish tied for 18th place.
Freshman Matt Barnes tied for 60th place with rounds of 77-79-76 = 232 (+16). The other freshman Reb Banas finished a few strokes behind Barnes. He finished in 76th place, carding rounds of 83-79-76=238 (+22). Junior Andrew Bowyer tied for 85th place with rounds of 84-78-81= 243 (+27).
Will Byrne who played as an individual tied 91st overall with scores of 77-91-84= 252 (+36).
The Wildcats will be back in competition Oct. 1-2 at The Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Binghamton University.
