WILMINGTON, Del.- The Villanova Men's Tennis team traveled to the DuPont Country Club to compete against Delaware on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats topped the Blue Hens, 6-1.

"It was a great weekend for our team, picking up wins against two teams that are extremely competitive. Our doubles were able to come through against a tough challenge from Delaware at the beginning of each set to pick up the doubles point," Tennis Head Coach Brad Adams said.

The doubles teams stepped up for the Wildcats as Tyler Roth and Tommy Dodson earned the first win of the day. They won their match with a score of 6-3. William Elmore and Tommy Mulflur topped their opponent, 6-3. A 7-5 victory by Stefan Suarez and Mike Czlonka helped the Wildcats sweep doubles competition.

In singles, Roth was first to capture a win for the Wildcats with a score of 6-1, 6-1. In the third slot for Villanova was Dodson who won his match, 6-2, 6-0. For the second time on the day, a 6-1, 6-3 victory by Suarez helped the Wildcats win the match against Delaware.

"I was impressed with all our players in singles as they approached and played their matches with a business type of attitude. Delaware was a great challenge and it made us better going into our matches next week versus Temple and Colgate," Adams said.

Next, Villanova will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. Friday, Feb. 2 to compete against Temple at 9 a.m. Also, they will host Colgate at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club on Friday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.
