WEST ORANGE, N.J. – Villanova Golf finishes second after a terrific performance at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon at the Montclair Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
Connor Daly took medal honors with the best score out of any golfer in the tournament. He finished +1 both rounds and ended the event +2.
The rest of the team also put in a solid performance with
Mark Benevento finishing with a +7 (tied for fifth place individually),
Jack O'Hara wrapped up the event with a score of +12,
Reb Banas finished with a score of +16, and
Matt Davis finished with a score of +21.
Danny Dougherty finished the individual tournament tied for 70
th with a score of +23.
Villanova is the only school in the tournament to shoot sub-300 in both rounds.
Benevento finished with the top score on par 3's, leading the rest of the field by two strokes and finishing at -2. Daly ended the tournament with the best score on Par 4's with a score of +1.
St. Peter's won the event, finishing with the score of +23. Villanova came in second (+37), followed by Iona (+38), St. John's (+43), LIU-Brooklyn (+44), Fairfield (+46), Monmouth (+47), Hofstra (+48), Sacred Heart (+48), Fairleigh Dickinson (+50), Fordham (+61), Manhattan (+66), Niagara (+67), St. Francis NY (+75), and Wagner (+84).
Villanova will wrap up their fall season November 10
th with the City 6 Championship in Galloway Township, N.J.
