VILLANOVA, Pa.- The Villanova men's tennis squad was action on Friday as they competed against Temple and Colgate. The Wildcats fell to Temple 4-0, while bouncing back later in the afternoon against Colgate, 6-1.

"I believe today was a great learning experience for the team and shows how our commitment to fitness and attention to detail paid off," Head Coach Brad Adams said.

Against a strong Temple team, Stefan Suarez (Makati City, Philippines) was able to win a set 3-6 but eventually fell to his opponent. Will Elmore (Las Vegas, Nev.) also won a set during his singles match but eventually dropped the match. The doubles teams had a great showing but were unable to come up with doubles point.

"Temple is a very tough team. I think this type of match will only motivate our guys to improve each practice and each match to accomplish our long-term goals for the season," Adams said.

Later, the Wildcats took on Temple at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club. In doubles, Mike Czlonka (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Suarez were first to capture the win as the defeated their opponents (3-6, 6-2, 7-5). The doubles teams consisting of Tommy Dodson (Haddonfield N.J.)/Tyler Roth (Westfield, N.J.) and Elmore/Tommy Mulflur (Portland, Ore.) also won their matches to help the team earn the doubles point. During singles, first for Villanova was Suarez who won his match 3-6, 6-2, 7-6. Other winners on the day were Dylan Flanagan (Montclair, N.J.), Dodson, Mulflur, and Alastair Hurry (Newport Beach, Calif.).

"I was impressed with how our doubles set the tone for the match and how our 3-5 guys were able to secure a Villanova victory in straight sets. This type of day will help the team become stronger as a unit and prepare us for some very tough teams to come over the next weeks," Adams said.

Up next for the Wildcats is a trip to Lehigh. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
