Villanova head coach Jay Wright

On Forward #14 Omari Spellman's progress

"Last year helped him a lot even though he was injured. He was though able to spend a lot of time around the program. He was able to get in shape and do a lot of conditioning while injured which makes him different than any other freshman. He got on a diet and has become so much more intelligent in basketball knowledge which has made him a great player."

On Seton Hall's performance

"No surprise at all from the way they played against us today. We have great respect for them and I think Kevin is one of the best coaches in the country. They're physical, they're tough and they are smart. We're trying to stop Dese Rodriguez from shooting a three, but they are screening us left and right and he gets the three. They are just well coached as well as tough and physical. That is a great combination to have as a team."

On facing this seton hall team versus previous years

"I think the balance and the fact that their entire is shooting really well. They also have always been a tough team and great taking rebounds and strong defensive play have never changed. But their shooting has improved dramatically from past years."

On guard #10 Donte DeVincenzo's role since becoming the starter after guard#5 Phil Booth's injury

"In my mind. He is doing the same thing. He played thirty-seven minutes today he would have played the same amount if he wasn't starting. He's always been a starter in my mind. To me and my staff we always want him to play no matter what. The more minutes were given to #2 guard Collin Gillespie and #21 forward Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree because I thought we needed more size against a team like Seton Hall."

On having a player like forward #14 Omari Spellman on his team

"I have never had such a complete player on my teams that has size and strength. He is just going to keep better too. But he can also shoot around the perimeter as well as make key rebounds which makes him so complete as a player."

On the importance of not getting into foul trouble

"It's important. We want to play defense that way. We want to play hard and tough without fouling which is hard to do but having smart, intelligent players like Omari making blocks and rebounds without fouling, really make a difference."

Forward #14 Omari Spellman

On his matchup versus Angel Delgado,

"I just wanted to play as hard as I could for my teammates and get our team a win."

On the open outside shots he got today,

"I think it says a lot about my teammates and how good they are. You have to worry about everybody and sometimes they (the opposing team) picks me to try and beat them."

On his progress since the start of the season,

"I just try and get better everyday and listen to my coaches and hear what they have to say. I just want to be competitive and get better."

Guard #1 Jalen Brunson

On the difference in Omari so far,

"It's his demeanor. He's doing a great job of expanding all the things he can do. He doesn't care about the stats or the spotlight he's just playing as hard as he can for us."

On Angel Delgado,

"Omari did a great job on him. Angel is a very good player. He's a very strong player and to see Omari play him as tough as he did down there it showed how bad he wanted to compete."

Seton Hall Head Coach Kevin Willard

When asked about Omari Spellman,

"Four of his threes were contested but when a guy makes shots like that you are going to have a hard time beating him. We talked a lot about how Paschall has been shooting the basketball, but Spellman got it going offensively and you have to give him credit. Any time a guy goes off like that you are going to have a long night. "

On the fouls during the game,

"I thought we played hard and it was a good basketball game for the most part. From the seven-minute mark to the four-minute mark Spellman hit two big threes. I thought they did a good job getting gout in the passing lanes but overall I thought both teams played really well today."

When asked about a moral victory,

"We play them against at home in a couple weeks and they're a good basketball team on the road but we can't let them make 12 threes. I'm proud of how we played and how battled for most of the game. Have to give them credit though, they made some good plays."

When asked about their play today,

"I think we can play better. Like I said they're a good basketball team and on the road you better perfect. I thought we played tough, but you have to give Spellman credit, he made great shots and I thought that was the difference in the game today."
