Okatie, S.C. - The Villanova men's golf team finished play at the BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep on Tuesday afternoon. The three-day event took place at the par-72 Callawassie Island Golf Club. Villanova placed seventh at the tournament with a team score of 309-309-312 = 930 (+66). Georgetown (884) =+20 edged defending champion Marquette (887) =+23 by three strokes to claim the title, and DePaul finished in third place at 900 (+38). Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn earned medalist honors, after carding a two-under-par 214 for the 54 holes.
In the final tournament of his collegiate career, senior Andy Butler led Villanova with an 10th place finish, firing rounds of 74-74-76 = 224 (+8). Sophomore Connor Daly carded scores of 74-79-79 = 232 (+16 to place in 24th place, and senior Andrew MacMillan tied for 31st place with rounds of 83-76-79 = 238 (+22). Freshman Matt Barnes tied for 34th place after carding rounds of 78-83-78= 239 (+23) while Reb Banas placed 43rd overall while shooting rounds of 83-80-85= 248 (+32).
