May 14, 2018 CAMDEN, N.J. ââ'¬" Villanova Women's Rowing finished tied for fourth at the CAA Rowing Championships on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey Sunday morning. They scored nine total points on the day, tying with Eastern Michigan. Northeastern was crowned CAA Champions for the fifth year in a row with a score of 29, followed by Drexel with 22 and Delaware with 21. As for individual awards, seniors Briggs Mroz and Morgan Mroz were announced as 2018 All-CAA Honorees.
Villanova Head Coach Carissa Adams had this to say following the races, "We had a tough day on the course yesterday and things didn't end up the way we had hoped. The athletes put in every ounce of effort into their races and came up short. I think finals week caught up to them and they couldn't find the energy needed to be competitive with the other teams. This performance was not a good indication of this squad's speed and it should be motivation for the season to come. This conference's schools are all gaining speed and closing in on the top performers. It is exciting to be a part of this growth and we feel fortunate to be able to compete against our strong conference opponents."
The Wildcats placed fourth in the Varsity-4, fifth in the Varsity-8, fourth in the Second Varsity-8 and third in the Third Varsity-8. Coach Adams stated, "Our Third Varsity-8 had a strong performance, finishing three seconds behind Delaware." You can find the complete places and times for each race below:
