Butler selected to PING All-Region Team

STILLWATER, Oklahoma- Senior Andy Butler was selected to the GCAA (Golf Coaches Association of America) PING All-Region Team as announced by the association today. Players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2018.

Butler had an outstanding in the spring season, as he took fourth at the Coca-Cola Invitational. Butler also led the team in the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate where he shot rounds of 79-73-73 = 225 (+9) and placed in 12th overall. He also was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team after the conclusion of the spring season.

In the fall, Butler played in all six matches for Villanova. Butler placed fifth at the Doc Gimmler Invitational with rounds of 64-72-71=207 (-3) and had the best score for Villanova. He tied for sixth place at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational and helped team come in fifth place overall. Butler also finished in the top 25 golfers in four out of six tournaments.

PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked in the top 75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region's top 15 are added to their All-Region team. Members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors.
