WILMINGTON, DEL. - The Villanova men's tennis team started the 2019 campaign with a 4-3 victory against the Delaware Blue Hens at DuPont Country Club. With the score tied at three, junior Dylan Flanagan won his match 6-4, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4) on court 4 to clinch the match for the Wildcats. 

Head coach Brad Adams on the victory, "I was very pleased with our performance in doubles.  Singles was a gut check as Delaware put up an unbelievable team and individual fight all the way from one through six.  The guys really showed some grit and fought through some tight spots.  Obviously very proud of Dylan Flanagan who battled though a lot of adversity in the third set to clinch the match.  I am excited for the team as they overcame a very tough test in Delaware especially as this was the first match of the year.  I know that our guys are looking forward to the challenges of next week versus Colgate and Lehigh."

Villanova got the opening point thanks to the doubles team of Dodson/Roth and Suarez/Mulfur. Senior Thomas Dodson and junior Tyler Roth won 6-2 on court one while junior Stefan Suarez and junior Tommy Mulflur won 6-2 on court 2. On the singles court, Villanova led 3-1 but Delaware won on courts five and six to tie the match up.
