Villanova Improves by 10 Strokes in Second Round of Bank of Tennessee

Jonesborough, Tenn. – Villanova golf played a f10 strokes better in the second round, shooting a 303, but remains in 15th place after 36 holes of golf at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

The Blackthorn at the Ridges course in Jonesborough, Tenn. has challenged the Wildcats throughout the first two rounds. Today, senior captain Mark Benevento found the most success on the course, shooting 2-over. Having teed off on No. 10, Benevento was sitting at 4-over with just four holes to play, but birdied two of his last four to piece together a solid round. Benevento leads the team at 6-over after two rounds.

Jack O'Hara had a bounce-back round, knocking six shots off his score from yesterday to card a 4-over 76.

Noah Peck, who withdrew from yesterday's round, came back today and played well with a four-over 76 as well. The sophomore had three birdies on the day, including back-to-back on 12 and 13 to highlight his round.

Reb Banas shot a 5-over 77 for the second straight day. The junior had a steady round, with 15 pars on the day. Unfortunately his miscues were costly and he had two double bogeys in the round along with one other bogey.

Freshman Matt Minerva carded a 78 for the second time this week. He did find a birdie at the par-5 fourth hole, but his round otherwise solid round was blemished by a 7 at the par-4 17th.
